Almost four weeks into my weight loss plan, I have already lost 10 pounds! I am taking my lifestyle change one step at a time by adjusting to eating healthily again before starting to workout.
I have become very aware of what and how much I consume as my diet teaches me to hold myself accountable for my food intake choices. Counting my diet works best for me because it trains my mind and my body to make smart food choices, encouraging me to stay strong and avoid some of the less than healthy food options. I am also learning to use my daily points wisely. I save my bonus points for Saturdays, as my week starts over on Sundays for my weekly weigh-in day.
Here are some common diet obstacles and my solutions:
- Insatiable hunger – By focusing on food high in fiber and protein, I don’t feel hungry at all.
- Exhaustion and discouragement from denying myself food – When I’m craving those high point (and high calorie) nachos, I tell myself to wait for Saturday. This rationalization is a good way for me to eat food I like in a more balanced way and push through those initial cravings. By Saturday, the craving can even disappear, saving me from that high calorie item altogether.
Stay tuned for more updates and when you see me in the office, I’d love to hear from you. Say hello or share your weight loss journey with me. Encouragement goes a long way!
